A man from Mexico who swam across the Rio Grande River to reach the United States was arrested at a local Walmart.
A loss prevention employee of Walmart, located at 2501 Citrus Blvd., was watching surveillance footage when he saw 36-year-old Luis Enrique Reyes Munoz not scanning all of his items around 12:55 p.m. Sunday, May 10, according to an arrest report from the Leesburg Police Department.

He paid for what he scanned before passing all points of sale with $69.89 in stolen products, including chicken breast, pork chops, oysters, top round beef, Colgate toothpaste and cucumbers. He was then confronted by loss prevention and escorted to their office to wait for law enforcement, the report said.
Once an officer arrived, he asked Reyes Munoz why he stole the items. He stated he did not see them in his cart, the report said.
The officer next asked if he was a citizen of the United States, and he said no. He did not have a green card or a work Visa. He described swimming across the Rio Grande that bordered the United States and Mexico about four years ago to illegally enter the country, the report said.
Reyes Munoz was arrested on charge of retail theft and booked at the Lake County Jail. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement has been notified of his arrest.
