A Leesburg man was arrested after lying about his name and damaging a patrol car’s window during a battery investigation.

Officers responded to Elevate 155 apartments, located at 155 Veranda Way, for a battery involving 22-year-old Brycen Jocobe Williams at 12:30 a.m. Tuesday, according to an arrest report from the Mount Dora Police Department. Upon arrival, they were flagged down by a neighbor, who stated, “I’m the one who called. They have been yelling at each other all night.”

As the officers got closer to the apartment, they heard a loud commotion coming from inside, the report said. They stopped near the door to listen and determine what was happening. A female voice then said, “You never put your hands on females, but you want to put your hands on me.”

The officers proceeded to knock on the door and announced themselves as law enforcement, advising the occupants to open the door. Williams came to the door but refused to open it. He stated they needed to leave the premises if they did not have a warrant, the report said.

The officers explained that they needed to ensure the woman was not injured, yet Williams continued refusing to open the door. He stated that if the officers did not leave, they and the woman in the apartment would die. He did not elaborate on these threats, though, the report said.

Minutes later, Williams opened the door to give a false name and date of birth, the report said. The female occupant also came out to say she was OK and not in distress. When asked for her companion’s name, she replied, “Whatever name he gave you.”

The officers then noticed blood running down Williams’s leg, although he denied medical attention for it. Meanwhile, dispatch tried to find a match for the false name and birthdate he gave law enforcement. He was asked numerous times for his real identity, yet he continued giving false information, the report said.

An officer eventually determined who Williams really was, and he was detained. He stated that officers knew his name the entire time and that he did not need to tell them. He became verbally aggressive toward them, yelling profanities and growing uncooperative, the report said.

While being searched before transport, he tensed his body and clenched his fist. He refused to allow an officer to take a napkin from his hand. He later damaged the right passenger rear window of a patrol car by repeatedly kicking it, the report said.

Williams was charged with false information to law enforcement, criminal mischief over $1,000 and resisting an officer without violence. He was booked at the Lake County Jail and released after posting $2,500 bond.

He was also arrested in Dec. 2023 for cocaine in his possession during a traffic stop.
