A Leesburg man was arrested for battery after allegedly pushing his wife and threatening her mother.

A deputy responded to a physical altercation at an undisclosed Leesburg residence around 8:55 p.m. Monday, May 4, according to an arrest report from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office. The wife of 45-year-old Scott David Dieu advised that he had been drinking and was being mentally abusive toward her and her mother.

She explained that during an altercation, he had gotten in her face and called her names, the report said. He then threw bedding around her bedroom, at which point she feared for her well-being. He also pushed her after finding out law enforcement was on the way, saying, “I don’t care, I’m going to jail anyways.”

Following this, he got into her mother’s face and began threatening her. The mother stated she felt very threatened by this and feared for her well-being. He did not care she was on AFib, a common type of heart arrhythmia, and continued to threaten her, the report said.

Before being taken into custody, Dieu statd that nothing physical happened between him and his wife. It was verbal only, the report said.

Dieu was arrested on charge of simple battery (domestic) and booked at Lake County Jail. This charge violated his probation for driving with a suspended license and simple battery, meaning he was being held without bond.
