A Leesburg man will appear in court after trying to run from an officer serving a warrant at his residence.
Officers with the Crime Suppression Unit began patrolling Industrial Drive for 55-year-old Christopher Scott Pettit around 8:05 p.m. Tuesday, April 27, according to a case report from the Leesburg Police Department. He had an active Lake County warrant for violation of probation (driving while license suspended, cancelled or revoked – second or subsequent offense.)

They eventually spotted Pettit walking in the area of Berdetta Street and Snowberger Avenue, and an officer approached him as he made his way home on Industrial Street. He commanded Pettit to stop, to which he began to flee on foot toward the back of his house. After a short pursuit, the officer threatened to use his taser, and he finally stopped, the report said.
Pettit was issued a citation for resisting without violence and given a court date of March 20. He was also arrested for the warrant and booked at the Lake County Jail without bond.
He was also arrested in Jan. 2023 after claiming he put on another man’s pants when caught with drugs and in Jan. 2021 when he was popped on drug charges during a traffic stop.
