A Pennsylvania man was arrested for DUI after swerving across the road and hurting himself during sobriety exercises.
Dispatch got a call about a reckless driver, later identified as 56-year-old Christian Rene Caussude, who was speeding and swerving northbound on U.S. Hwy 27 in Clermont at 3:35 a.m. Wednesday, according to an arrest report from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office. The caller described the vehicle as a gray Kia.

A deputy responded to the area to find a gray Kia SUV on Olympus Boulevard as it approached a stop sign for U.S. Hwy. 27. The vehicle then made a left turn onto the highway after an extended stop. It proceeded to cross the fog line several times and drifted into the middle lane, failing to stay in its lane, the report said.
The deputy also paced the vehicle at 63 mph before dropping to 51 mph in a 55-mph zone. After stopping the vehicle, he spoke with Caussade, who smelled of alcohol. He agreed to perform field sobriety exercises, during which he fell onto the asphalt and cut his forehead, the report said.
Due to his performance, the deputy concluded Caussade was under the influence. He later provided breath samples of 0.231 and 0.236, the report said.
Caussade was arrested on charge of DUI and booked at Lake County Jail. The Missouri native was books at Lake County Jail and released after posting $1,000 bond.
