A Fort Lauderdale man has been arrested on a warrant for the vehicular homicide of a North Carolina man in 2022 in Leesburg.
On May 14, 2022, officers responded to the intersection of U.S. Hwy. 27/441 and Tally Road regarding a two-vehicle traffic crash. The preliminary investigation revealed that a gold 1988 Cadillac sedan, operated by 69-year-old Kenny Ray Amdahl of Hubert, N.C., was traveling northbound in the right lane. A second vehicle, a silver 2019 Lexus driven by 29-year-old Terrance Raghoonauth, was traveling northbound in the left lane.

Investigators determined that the Lexus swerved into the right lane, striking the Cadillac in a front-to-rear collision. Following the impact, the Cadillac caught fire. Amdahl was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Leesburg Police Department initiated a traffic homicide investigation and worked in coordination with the State Attorney’s Office and the Florida Traffic Safety Resource Prosecutor to review the circumstances surrounding the crash.
After an extensive investigation, Traffic Homicide Investigators obtained an arrest warrant for Raghoonauth on a charge of vehicular homicide. He was taken into custody in Tavares and booked at Lake County Jail on Sunday. He was released after posting a $25,000 bond.
