A homeless man was arrested for trespassing at his parents’ house in Leesburg in an attempt to get food.

Dispatch got a call from the parents of 32-year-old Austin Zachary McDaniel around 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 22, according to an arrest report from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office. He had shown up uninvited at their residence in Tara Village, lay down and refused to leave.

His mother advised that they had been having problems with him showing up unannounced. He came around that day in an attempt to get food, but she did not answer the door. She asked that he be trespassed from the property, the report said.

Deputies then went and spoke with McDaniel, who was told his parents did not want him on the property. He was formally trespassed and told not to return. He acknowledged this and left the property, so the deputies left to respond to another call, the report said.

However, dispatch got another call from McDaniel’s mother. She stated he had come back and began banging on her door, which she did not answer. He subsequently sat down in a flower bed on the property, the report said. He refused to leave.

McDaniel was arrested on charge of trespass on property other than structure/conveyance. He was booked at the Lake County Jail with bond set at $1,000.
