A Eustis woman was arrested on a charge of driving under the influence after falling asleep behind the wheel in a carline at a school.
An officer was called to Mount Dora Christian Academy, located at 301 W 13th Ave., regarding 36-year-old Marguerite Persson May around 3:20 p.m. Tuesday, according to an arrest report from the Mount Dora Police Department. She had fallen asleep behind the wheel of a vehicle in the student pickup line.

By the time the officer arrived, she was speaking with school staff. She advised that she was not feeling well due to undergoing chemotherapy and taking related medications, the report said.
However, the officer noticed her speech was slightly slurred as she said this, and she had bloodshot, glassy eyes. She denied having anything to eat or drink due to her condition, yet he saw a multicolored metal cup in the vehicle’s cupholder. She claimed it contained Sprite but refused to let him inspect it, the report said.
May was then ordered out of the vehicle to ensure she was capable of driving safely. As she exited, the officer detected the strong odor of alcohol on her breath. She stated she had recently been involved in a bicycle crash, which was taken into consideration during the sobriety exercises that followed, the report said.
She proceeded to sway, fail to follow instructions and request to restart one of the exercises. Her performance led the officer to conclude she was under the influence. She later provided breath samples of 0.240 and 0.245. Additionally, an inventory of her vehicle determined the liquid in her cup smelled strongly of alcohol, the report said.
May was arrested on charge of DUI and booked at the Lake County Jail. She was booked at Lake County Jail and released after posting $1,000 bond.
