A Minneola woman was arrested for driving with an invalid license after she stopped in the crosswalk of an intersection during a red light.

An officer saw a black SUV pass the stop line and crosswalk at the intersection of Hammock Ridge Road and U.S. Hwy. 27 at 7:05 p.m. Wednesday, April 15, according to an arrest report from the Clermont Police Department. Another bystander informed him that the driver, 42-year-old Nikki Rachelle Brown, did not seem well.

After stopping Brown, the officer asked for her driver’s license and registration. She could only provide the latter, as she did not have her license. She had made a payment at the Florida Department of Highway and Safety for a form, though, the report said.

A subsequent check of her name and birthdate revealed she had only an ID card. When asked about this, she still had a hard time handing over any form of ID. The officer then asked if she was OK and learned she had oral surgery two days ago, the report said.

However, the officer noticed Brown’s pupils were pinpoint and did not change. He asked for EMS to evaluate her mental state and health. Clermont Fire and Rescue later advised that she had high blood pressure, but she was well enough to refuse transport to a hospital, the report said.

Additionally, dispatch checked her criminal history and determined she had a prior conviction for driving while license suspended/revoked/canceled/disqualified on Sept. 3, 2024, the report said.

Brown was arrested on charge of driving while license suspended/revoked/canceled/disqualified. The Arkansas native was booked at the Lake County Jail and released after posting $500 bond.
