A Groveland man was arrested after recklessly fleeing from law enforcement, who were trying to stop him for driving with a suspended license.

A deputy tried to stop 20-year-old Blake Jacob Murray at State Road 50 and Citrus Tower Boulevard in Clermont around 9:50 a.m. Sunday, according to an arrest report from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office. Law enforcement had gotten a hit on his gray Dodge Charger, which had an expired tag from Dec. 13, 2025. Murray also had a suspended license for a conviction for a suspended tag on April 14, 2025, and two penalties for unpaid traffic fines on Feb. 2.

The deputy looked at Murray through the passenger window and compared him to his driver’s license photo. Now knowing it was him, the deputy turned on his emergency lights. Murray sped off, only to slow down and turn onto Legends Way as if he was going to pull over in a safe place. He then veered back onto Citrus Tower Boulevard, ran over a median and sped off again, the report said.

He continued onto Oakley Sievers Road and sped away. The deputy called out his vehicle’s information to dispatch to notify others in the area, although he could no longer see the vehicle clearly due to its high speed. He watched the vehicle in the distance as it passed cars in a no-passing zone before he completely lost sight of it, the report said.

Another unit saw Murray heading southbound on North Hancock Road. While making a U-turn to head in that direction, they saw him turn right onto Legends Way. They, too, lost sight of him and continued searching the area, the report said.

The vehicle was ultimately found, and law enforcement launched a drone to find Murray. They spotted him walking between buildings near Insight Credit Unit, 2580 SR 50, Clermont, where he was apprehended, the report said.

Murray was arrested on charges of flee/elude officer with disregard for public safety, driving while license suspended and reckless driving. He was booked at the Lake County Jail without bond.
