A Leesburg man was arrested for battery after allegedly punching his girlfriend when she told him that she was pregnant with his child.

Deputies responded to Sapphire Lane in Leesburg regarding a domestic battery around 10:20 p.m. Wednesday, April 15, according to an arrest report from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office. Upon arrival, they were waved down and directed to the pregnant girlfriend of 49-year-old Corey Wade Perrodin.

She was sitting on her front porch in pain, crying out for help. She advised that Perrodin grabbed her hair and punched her in the face three times while she was in the passenger seat of his car. He was in his house across the street, the report said.

The deputies immediately went to the residence, where Perrodin spoke to them through a screened window by the front door. He stated he would not be coming outside. When told the consequences of barricading himself inside, he said the deputies could write a warrant, the report said.

So, one deputy watched the house while some others spoke with the victim. She explained that she was in a car with Perrodin and tried to tell him that she was pregnant with his child. Once she told him, he grabbed her hair and punched her three times on the left side of her face. He also grabbed at her neck while trying to punch her, the report said.

She sustained a raised, bruised knot directly above her left eyebrow. She added that her relationship with Perrodin had been off and on for several years and was sexual in nature, the report said.

Perrodin was still barricaded inside his home at that point and would not come out to talk. He then called dispatchers to inform them that he did not hit his girlfriend. He was going between the screened-in porch, the front door and the kitchen window to speak with deputies, as well, the report said.

After about 30 minutes of this, he finally gave up and came out of the residence. He stated he would like to speak to help diffuse the situation and made several statements about his girlfriend not leaving his car, to which he threw a drink at her. He never admitted to hitting her, the report said.

Perrodin was arrested on charge of simple battery (domestic) and booked at Lake County Jail. The Louisiana native was released after posting $5,000 bond.
