A Leesburg woman was arrested for retail theft after attempting to steal $29 worth of meat from Walmart.
An officer responded to Walmart, located at 2501 Citrus Blvd., regarding retail theft around 10:25 a.m. Monday, April 13, according to an arrest report from the Leesburg Police Department. Dispatch advised that asset protection had 44-year-old Rosalinda Porta Hinojo detained in their office.

An asset protection employee stated that Porta Hinojo entered the store, picked up numerous items, and took them to the self-checkout. She then scanned one sirloin tip but put two in a shopping bag. She also never even tried to pay for a picnic pork roast before leaving the store with the $29.33 in stolen goods, the report said.
Porta Hinojo was subsequently arrested on charge of retail theft and booked at Lake County Jail. The native of Peru was released after posting $500 bond.
