A Eustis man was arrested for thrice evading the police with a ski mask and a different person’s passport in his possession.
Deputies on patrol in Leesburg spotted a white Acura sedan with dark tint around 1:15 a.m. Friday, April 3, according to an arrest report from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office. They initiated a traffic stop only for the driver, 44-year-old Gregory Leon Robinson, to flee.

While searching for the suspect, one of the deputies observed a vehicle matching the description fail to come to a complete stop at a stop sign at the intersection of North Kaolin and East Main Streets. The deputy tried to stop the vehicle, but it fled again, the report said.
Another deputy saw the same vehicle exit Morningside Drive onto Radio Road and head south. The vehicle drove carelessly, so the deputy tried to stop it once more. Instead of obeying, the vehicle immediately made a U-turn and serpentined toward the patrol car to flee, the report said.
A short time later, deputies found Robinson walking south on Radio Road from the direction of where the vehicle had fled. He was stopped for an investigation, during which the deputies located the vehicle within walking distance from where Robinson now stood on Silver Court Drive. He claimed he had no idea what law enforcement was talking about, the report said.
However, a passenger who had been in the vehicle advised that her friend Robinson had been driving. He had worn a black ski mask and been driving for all three encounters with the police, the report said.
A subsequent search of Robinson’s person revealed a black ski mask in his front right pocket. He also had a passport and social security number for an unrelated person, along with women’s jewelry, the report said.
Robinson was arrested on three counts of fleeing to elude law enforcement. The Georgia native was booked at the Lake County Jail with bond set at $15,000 bond.
