
Mary M. Cox, age 74 of Leesburg, passed away early Sunday morning, April 5, 2026 at her home.
She was born July 1, 1951 in Hillsboro, the daughter of the late Dean E. and Edna Rosalie (King) Hopkins. Mary was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend.
She is survived by six children, Jamal Hopkins of Dayton, Rebecca Cox of Fairborn, Michelle Lauderman of Beavercreek, Miranda Cox of Yellow Springs, Brenda Davis of New Vienna, and Barbara (Paul) Jones of Woodbine, Kentucky; twelve grandchildren, Krisha Hopkins, Lacey (Brad) Coleman, Meressia (Josh) Swan, Courtney (Wesley) Emanoff, Harley Davis, Georgia Cox, Lusynda Cox, Braylon “Cheyenne” Harrigan, Keaton “Kenton” Harrigan, Donavan (Kaylie) Pontious, Dalton (Ciara) Pontious, and DaHanna (Trenton) Greene; numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; a sister Twila Swackhamer of Hillsboro; her dear friend Anne Heider; and two cousins, James King and Wanda Godsey.
In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband of thirty years, George Earl Cox, who passed away October 4, 2015; two grandchildren, Kylie Harrigan and Joshua Hopkins; her son-in-law Michael Lauderman; an aunt, Thelma King; and a cousin, Katherine Holder.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon on Thursday, April 9, 2026 at the Turner & Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro, when a funeral service will begin. Pastor Mike Wolfe will officiate. Burial will follow in the Carmel Church of God Cemetery.
