A Tampa man was arrested for driving with a suspended license after a traffic stop in Fruitland Park.
Officers got an alert about a black Dodge pickup truck headed south on U.S. Hwy. 27/441 around 10:05 a.m. Sunday, March 29, according to an arrest report from the Fruitland Park Police Department. The registered owner, 57-year-old Benton Rogers Murphey, had a suspended driver’s license, leading to a traffic stop north of Beam Street.

A check of his driving history confirmed he received notice of the court order on Nov. 9, 2022, for driving with a suspended license. He also had a prior guilty conviction for this charge from Sept. 8, 2025, the report said.
Murphey was arrested on charge of driving while license suspended (second or subsequent offense). He was booked at the Lake County Jail and released after posting $1,000 bond.
