A Leesburg man was arrested for driving with a suspended license after being stopped on an unregistered dirt bike.
Jeffery Alan Smith, 41, rode a blue dirt bike past an officer on Truett Street around 6:30 p.m. Monday, March 16, according to an arrest report from the Leesburg Police Department. The bike had no license plate attached or a working brake light, and Smith wore no eye protection.

Due to this, the officer stopped him near High Street. Smith advised that his license was suspended and revoked, he was on probation out of Lake County, and his dirtbike had no registration information, the report said.
A subsequent check of his driving history confirmed he had suspensions, cancellations and revocations dating from Nov. 15, 2008, through March 7, 2024. The violations included a DUI, refusal to submit to DUI testing and unpaid court obligations, the report said.
Smith was arrested on charges of fail to register motor vehicle and driving while license revoked for DUI with knowledge (second conviction). He was booked at Lake County Jail without bond.
