An Orlando woman will appear in court for concealing $13 worth of food on her person during a return trip to Walmart.
Surveillance cameras recorded 21-year-old Tyla Madisen Williams walking toward the self-checkout area with a friend in Walmart, located at 2501 Citrus Blvd., around 12:25 p.m., March 5, according to a case report from the Leesburg Police Department.
A loss prevention associate watching the cameras soon saw Williams mis-scanning merchandise, putting unpaid items in her cart and leaving the store. She and her friend came back around 4:50 p.m., and as they walked toward the hot food and snack aisle, Williams concealed items on her person, the report said.
When the two tried to leave again, the associate stopped Williams while her friend left the area. He recovered $13.46 in stolen merchandise, including an SJ Twin, Red Bull, Ms. Buffalo, a 1.5 oz Ranch and a hot food item, the report said.
Williams was issued a misdemeanor citation for retail theft and released on her own recognizance. She is due in court on March 31.
