A homeless man was arrested for trespassing when officers found him sleeping under a bench at Veterans Memorial Park in Leesburg.
Officers responded to Veterans Memorial Park, located at 200 Orange Ave., regarding 45-year-old McKenzie Dalon Miles sleeping under a bench at 4:05 a.m. Sunday, according to an arrest report from the Leesburg Police Department.
Upon arrival, the officers recognized Miles from previous encounters. He advised that he was homeless, and this was where he decided to sleep for the night. But he had been trespassed from the park on June 29, 2023, and had been arrested for trespassing again on Nov. 3, 2023, the report said.
Miles was arrested on charge of trespass after warning and booked at Lake County Jail. Bond was set at $1,000.
He was also arrested in 2021 while being evicted from his apartment and May 2021 for damaging a patrol car after being tased.
