A Leesburg man was arrested after almost climbing out of a second-story window and hiding from deputies trying to charge him for violating his probation.
The Lake County Sheriff’s Office Fugitive Unit responded to a residence on County Road 468 in Leeburg to find 38-year-old Kyle Douglas Stevens, according to an arrest report from the LCSO. He was wanted for violating his probation for dealing in stolen property and falsification of ownership to a pawnbroker.

Upon arrival, the unit found numerous different individuals who lived inside the residence. Deputies spoke with them about Stevens until one of them spotted him trying to climb out of the second-story window. Once he realized deputies were back there, he climbed back in and hid in the residence, the report said.
Two different people who had come out of the residence stated they saw Stevens inside. When they learned law enforcement was there, he went and hid in a bedroom. After giving the residents several minutes to yell for Stevens to come out peacefully and search the place for him, they were unsuccessful, the report said.
The deputies then went inside, announced they were there and told Stevens to come out peacefully. A short search determined he was hiding behind clothes in a closet in a bedroom on the front left side of the house. He was given more orders to come out, which he obeyed, the report said.
Stevens was arrested on charges of resisting law enforcement without violence and violation of probation for dealing in stolen property and falsification of ownership to a pawnbroker. He was booked at Lake County Jail without bond.
He was also arrested in March 2016 for violating his probation and in 2014 for taking money from his employer at Beef O’ Brady’s.
