A Clermont man was arrested for theft after bagging $99 worth of items without paying at Walmart.
A deputy responded to Walmart, located at 550 U.S. Hwy. 27, Clermont, for a retail theft involving 30-year-old Jhusva Joel Basurto around 8:25 p.m. Sunday, according to an arrest report from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.

An asset protection employee advised that they saw Basurto in the self-checkout area, putting unscanned items into bags. Video footage confirmed he bypassed the scanner with $99.26 in merchandise, the report said.
Basurto was arrested on charge of retail theft and booked at Lake County Jail. The Virginia native was released after posting $500 bond.
