A man from Argentina was arrested after allegedly stealing $119 in merchandise from Walmart.
A deputy responded to Walmart, located at 550 U.S. Hwy. 27, Clermont, for a theft involving 33-year-old Brian Gabriel Vasquez at 1:55 p.m. Wednesday, according to an arrest report from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office. An asset protection employee advised that he put several unscanned items into a bag in the self-checkout area.

Video footage showed he put two identical boxes of bed sheets on the register, scanned only one but put both in the bagging area. He repeated this process with two out of three packages of meat, and he failed to scan a child’s toy toward the end of his transaction. In total, he did this with $119.28 in merchandise, the report said.
Vasquez was arrested on charge of retail theft. He was booked at the Lake County Jail and released after posting $500 bond.
