A pair from Leesburg landed behind bars for the alleged sexual and physical abuse of two juveniles.
Jonathan Michael Mark, 53, and Patricia Ann Mark, 48, were extradited from Augusta, Georgia, on Monday on warrants charging them for the sadomasochistic abuse of two juvenile victims for years within their home. They were being held without bond at the Lake County Jail.

According to an affidavit of probable cause, the abuse began between 2016 and 2017 when the couple allowed the first juvenile victim to walk around the house unclothed. Household members were frequently naked inside the home, and the family would regularly lie unclothed together on the living room floor during “family movie nights.”
As the juvenile victim grew older, they became uncomfortable with this and expressed their discomfort to Jonathan and Patricia. Jonathan responded with anger and forced the nudity to continue. The juvenile victim would try to speak to Patricia when he was not around, but she failed to intervene, the affidavit said.
Discipline meant the juvenile victim was required to stand unclothed in physically stressful and humiliating positions. These punishments initially involved being struck with a belt and later escalated to a leather paddle. When Jonathan was away for work, Patricia would conduct these punishments while video calling him so he could watch, the affidavit said.
The juvenile victim further reported Jonathan often became drunk by means of whiskey and grew violent, breaking objects, striking furniture and walls, and choking household members, the affidavit said.
The Lake County detective investigating the abuse later wrote in the affidavit that this conduct reflected elements of BDSM, including forced nudity, coercive positioning, physical punishment, prolonged restraint, humiliation, and control through fear and submission. However, such behavior imposed on minors rather than consenting adults constituted sadomasochistic abuse rather than discipline.
The juvenile victim also described how Jonathan would shave their legs, shower nude with them and make sexually inappropriate comments about their physical development. Throughout it all, he made threats of serious harm toward family members meant to instill fear and prevent the juvenile victim from disclosing the abuse. The juvenile victim repeatedly told Patricia they were uncomfortable, but she failed to protect them, the affidavit said.
As a result, the juvenile victim did not report the abuse to any adults or authorities. They only disclosed limited information to the second victim, now an adult. They sustained bruising and injuries from the abuse that remained visible for some time, but the fear from Jonathan’s threats stopped them from seeking help, the affidavit said.
Detectives later reached out to the second victim who disclosed ongoing physical, emotional and sexual abuse committed by Jonathan over several years of their childhood and adolescence. They had been subjected to unusual and prolonged punishments, including being required to hold physically stressful positions, sometimes while unclothed. The victim recalled incidents of physical violence, too, such as being grabbed by the throat and forcibly restrained or deprived of sleep through prolonged interrogations late into the night, the affidavit said.
At one point, Jonathan required all household members to remain unclothed inside the home. The victim described more sexualized conduct during these periods, including physical contact and sexually explicit statements made by Jonathan while Patricia was present and failed to intervene, the affidavit said.
The victim gave examples of this, such as Jonathan forcing them to touch his penis to show he was not “turned on” and groping them on a family vacation. They told Patricia about the latter, to which she stated, “That doesn’t surprise me,” and took no action, the affidavit said.
The victim also disclosed that since the abuse, they had recieved ongoing mental health treatment related to trauma experienced during their childhood. They were willing and able to provide relevant medical and treatment records documenting their counseling and therapy sessions, the affidavit said.
Jonathan was ultimately charged with lewd and lascivious molestation, two counts of lewd and lascivious conduct, two counts of aggravated child abuse, and lewd and lascivious exhibition. Patricia was charged with two counts of child neglect, lewd and lascivious conduct, two counts of aggravated child abuse, lewd and lascivious exhibition, and failure to report child abuse. They are awaiting court on March 16.
