A Leesburg woman was arrested on drug charges when deputies found mushrooms and THC wax in her possession.

A white 2016 Jeep SUV with a white light bar on top of it sped past a deputy around 11 p.m. Monday, Jan. 26, according to an arrest report from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office. The occupants, including 40-year-old Brenna Marie Bean, reached 69 miles per hour in a 45-mph zone in Eustis.

The deputy subsequently stopped the vehicle at State Road 44 and Jay Street. The male driver complied with handing over his ID, but Bean stated she did not have any on her, the report said.

A K-9 unit then responded to the scene and positively alerted to the odor of narcotics, the report said. A search of the vehicle followed, revealing a clear plastic baggie with 6.36 grams of mushrooms, a multi-color container with 3.24 grams of THC wax and drug paraphernalia. These items were all found in the front passenger seat where Bean had been sitting.

Bean was ultimately arrested on charges of possession of mushrooms, THC wax and drug equipment. The California native was transported to Lake County Jail and released after posting $6,000 bond.
