A Leesburg teen was arrested after refusing to listen to a deputy and kicking the window of a patrol vehicle during a traffic stop.

A deputy saw 19-year-old Pharalan Blunt speed past in a white passenger car on Main Street in Leesburg at 9:20 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 24 according to an arrest report from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.

Seeing he was going about 80 mph, the deputy immediately turned around and tried to catch up for a traffic stop. He got behind the vehicle, which ran several stop signs before emergency lights were activated behind it. It then went across South Street and parked at a residence there, the report said.

Blunt proceeded to get out of the driver’s seat while yelling and acting extremely irate. He failed to listen to several commands, instead continuing to yell at the occupants still inside the vehicle. The deputy subsequently detained him in handcuffs even as he tried to pull away, the report said.

The deputy was able to redirect Blunt up against the rear of the patrol vehicle while he actively tried to shake his body and push away. He was still put in the back of the vehicle where he forcefully kicked the window several times after being warned. He was then brought to the ground and put in a restraint that immoblilzed his four limbs, the report said.

The deputy also spoke to the other occupants of the vehicle who stated two friends were actively hitting each other while they were in Sumter County somewhere. Blunt became extremely irate over this and would not calm down even though it happened an hour prior, the report said.

Blunt was charged with resisting without violence and transported to Lake County Jail. He was released after posting $1,000 bond.
