A Mississippi woman was arrested for theft after bagging $50 worth of food and tableware without scanning them at Walmart.

A deputy responded to Walmart, located at 550 U.S. Hwy. 27, Clermont, for a theft involving 22-year-old Kyla Denee Carter around 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 15, according to an arrest report from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.

An asset protection employee had seen her in the self-checkout area putting multiple things into bags without scanning them. Footage showed she completely bypassed the scanner for $50.91 worth of merchandise, including pasta, various McCormick seasonings, eggs, milk and tableware, the report said.

Carter was subsequently arrested for retail theft and transported to Lake County Jail. She was released after posting $500 bond.
