Mrs. Mary Louise Padgett, age 81, of Fruitland Park, Florida passed away Tuesday morning, January 20, 2026, at her home surrounded by family. She was born in Moultrie, Georgia on September 13, 1944. She was the daughter of the late Madison L and Mollie Cumbie.
Louise was preceded in death by her son, Scottie Padgett. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Bob Padgett, her son Rod (Jamie) Padgett, her daughter Amy Padgett, her 4 grandchildren: Conor, Tegan, Zoe, and Keira; her siblings: Maxine (Gary) Mills, Gail (John) Johnson, Robert (Linda) Cumbie, Sandy (Tommy) Eason, Greg (Stephanie) Cumbie.
Louise worked at Skeen and Leesburg Elementary Schools. She was a member of Main Street Baptist Church in Leesburg, and Heritage Community Church in Fruitland Park. She sang in the choir, taught children’s Sunday school, and led the summer Vacation Bible School. Louise was known for her gift of cooking and baking. Her family always requested her carrot cake with cream cheese frosting.
A celebration of Louise’s life will be held on Sunday, January 25, at 4:00pm at Heritage Community Church in Fruitland Park.
