A Lady Lake woman was arrested after deputies found methamphetamine in a gum container during a traffic stop.

A deputy stopped 45-year-old Dayna Marie Rosado for running a stop sign near the entrance of The Plantation at Leesburg Golf Club, located at 4720 Plantation Blvd., Leesburg, around 10:35 a.m. Sunday, according to an arrest report from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.

After the deputy approached the side of her white BMW, Rosado retrieved her driver’s license from a black purse on the floorboard of the passenger side. She also handed over her registration but stated she did not have proof of insurance. She then put the purse back on the floorboard, visibly shaking as she did so, the report said.

She denied there being any narcotics in the vehicle and gave the deputy consent to search it. However, she revoked her consent to another deputy on scene. A K-9 unit still sniffed around her vehicle and alerted to the odor of narcotics, meaning her vehicle was going to be searched regardless, the report said.

Deputies subsequently found a gum container inside the purse from earlier. It contained a small plastic baggie of methamphetamine. Rosado continued to deny having any narcotics on her person or in the vehicle, but she acknowledged grabbing the gum that day, the report said.

Rosado was arrested for possession of methamphetamine and transported to Lake County Jail. The New Jersey native was released after posting $2,500 bond.

She was also arrested in September on suspicion of selling drugs out of her car.
