A Lady Lake man was arrested with 20 baggies containing drug residue after leaving an area with known narcotic affiliations.
An officer surveilling a known narcotic-affiliated city-condemned residence spotted a gold Jeep leave the area at 7:50 p.m. Monday, Dec. 1, according to an arrest report from the Leesburg Police Department. He watched as the driver, 47-year-old William Frank Rysavy, failed to stop before a stop bar or signal the change in direction from north to east on Griffin Road.

Seeing this, he stopped Rysavy at the BP gas station, located at 1300 N 14th St., and used a K-9 to check for narcotics. Dispatch informed the officer that Rysavy had a suspended license for flee/elude law enforcement during this time, and he had nine prior convictions for driving while license suspended. He was subsequently detained and searched, the report said.
This yielded a green metal screw-on container attached to Rysavy’s belt. Inside was methamphetamine residue that was too slight to weigh. However, his vehicle had about 20 more empty baggies with methamphetamine residue. Speaking with the other occupants did nothing to determine who they belonged to, and there was nothing on them that would warrant further investigation, the report said.
Rysavy was subsequently arrested on charges of drug paraphernalia (possess or use) and driving while license suspended/revoked (habitual offender). He was transported to Lake County Jail with bond set at $6,000.
