Loss prevention advised that he was currently in the sporting goods section taking a pair of binoculars. Once they found him on camera, they watched as he looked over his shoulder to the left and right. He then grabbed something, shoved it into the front of his pants and quickly walked toward the front of the store where he had put his gray bicycle, the report said.

An officer parked directly outside the store followed Wiemer as he went past the vending machines, ultimately detaining him. He started to make sudden movements and tightened his arms until being told to stop resisting. He then followed all commands, the report said.

A search of his person revealed two black Range Finger binoculars, worth $98 each, concealed in his pants. He also had a white $26.97 Hart Air sprayer shoved into the bottom of his underwear. A look back at the vending machine yielded a $9.97 black waist pack for a total recovery of $232.94 in merchandise, the report said.

Additionally, Wiemer’s backpack contained a pink panda coin purse with a neatly folded piece of aluminum foil. Underneath were multiple empty plastic baggies and a plastic baggie of 0.5 grams of methamphetamine, the report said.

A check of his criminal history showed he had been trespassed from the store on July 19, as well, the report said.

Wiemer was charged with retail theft, possession of methamphetamine and trespass after warning. He was transported to the Lake County Jail with bond set at $4,500.
