A Leesburg man allegedly tried to steal pie crusts and pecans from Walmart a few days before Thanksgiving.

Loss prevention employees of Walmart, located at 2501 Citrus Blvd., saw 31-year-old Anthony Bobo skip-scanning items with a female companion at 2:40 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 22, according to a case report from the Leesburg Police Department.

Bobo paid for some merchandise but not others by double stacking goods in his hand. He only scanned the bottom item and put them both into shopping bags. He and his companion then tried to leave the store where they were met by loss prevention, the report said.

The employees were able to recover $18.96 in merchandise, including a Banquet mega bowl, a Pillsbury double pack of pie crust, a snack tub of Praline Pecans, a bag of mini marshmallows, a pack of sharp cheddar cheese and a Keebler Graham pie crust, the report said.

Bobo was issued a misdemeanor citation for retail theft with a court date of Dec. 10. He and his companion were then trespassed from the store.
