A Leesburg woman will appear in court for stealing multiple Milwaukee tools from Home Depot using a tote bag.
An officer responded to Home Depot, located at 10825 U.S. Hwy. 441, for a theft involving 62-year-old Tina Marie Riggs around 6:50 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 25, according to an arrest report from the Leesburg Police Department. Loss prevention described her clothing and that she was carrying a green tote bag.

Upon arrival, the officer spotted Riggs walking southbound on U.S. Hwy. 441. She saw his patrol vehicle and abruptly turned onto Memory Lane to quickly walk away. Riggs later stated she was leaving her residence, but she was walking from the direction of Home Depot toward her home, the report said.
When she placed her tote bag on the ground, the officer saw several unopened Milwaukee items inside. She spontaneously said she would have the money to pay for them next week when she got her paycheck. Her bag contained a total of $147.76 in merchandise, including a Milwaukee blade, a Milwaukee headlamp, a Milwaukee folding knife, a Coast 2000 headlamp and Cutter bug spray, the report said.
A criminal history check revealed she had a prior conviction for retail theft in 2010, the report said.
Riggs was ultimately issued a misdemeanor citation for retail theft (one prior conviction) and trespassed from the store. She was scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 21 and released on her own recognizance.
The Illinois native was also arrested in Jan. 2024 for speeding in a Buick.
