A Fruitland Park woman was arrested at a shopping plaza in The Villages after allegedly attacking her sister.

Deputies responded to a domestic battery at 5440 Twin Palms Rd., Fruitland Park, around 4:10 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 12, according to an arrest report from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office. Upon arrival, they met with 24-year-old Tayana Renae Dallas and her sister.

The sister advised that Dallas was complaining to her about her daughter keeping her up and not letting her sleep. She offered to take the daughter with her so Dallas could rest, but Dallas got angry and got close to her. At that point, Dallas started hitting her sister on the head and other parts of her body with a closed fist. The sister pushed her in self-defense, causing Dallas to fall over a nearby couch, the report said.

The sister showed the deputies a small red mark on the left of her hair near the roots in the area where she claimed Dallas hit her. Dallas had several scratches on her neck and behind her right ear as well as her abdomen, all consistent with defensive wounds. The report also noted that the sister’s hands appeared uninjured and had numerous rings, which would be consistent with Dallas’s injuries.

Dallas did not give a statement and was instead taken to UF Health Spanish Plaines Hospital in The Villages for shoulder pain. After being released, deputies found her outside a store at Rolling Acres Plaza, located at 716 U.S. Hwy. 441, in The Villages, the report said.

Dallas was arrested on charge of simple battery (domestic) and transported to Lake County Jail. She was released after posting $1,000 bond.
