A Lake County man was arrested for battery after allegedly hitting and scratching his wife when confronted about seeing another woman.

A deputy responded to an undisclosed Lake County residence around 3:30 a.m. Thursday, according to an arrest report from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office. Upon arrival, the wife of 29-year-old Rual Martinez stated they were arguing over him seeing another woman.

When Martinez got to the residence, she confronted him with the accusations. He started to yell at her before getting up from the couch and hitting her chest. She pushed him back so he would not hit her face, the report said.

Martinez then began to throw “things” around, pushed her and scratched her. When he left their mobile home and went toward his truck, he picked up an empty beer bottle and threw it at her. It hit her in her right breast area, the report said.

While speaking with the wife, the deputy saw two scratches on her right bicep area. There was also a bruise on her right breast and a bruise on her left inner bicep area. Items were thrown around in the mobile home, including an empty broken Corona bottle, a phone charger and clothes. There was a broken glass bottle outside the home, as well, the report said.

The deputy next spoke with the couple’s eight-year-old daughter who stated she overheard the argument. She also heard things being thrown but did not see the altercation, the report said.

Prior to the deputy’s arrival, officers with the Mascotte Police Department found Martinez at a separate location and read his rights. He did not wish to talk about the incident and was taken back to the mobile home. He did not have any injuries, the report said.

Martinez was arrested on charge of aggravated battery (person uses a deadly weapon). He was transported to Lake County Jail and released after posting $2,500 bond.
