
Hazel Marie Cotzin, 87, of Fruitland Park, Florida passed away on May 9, 2025 in Summerfield, Florida. She also resided in New Ipswich NH for many years.
She was born to Thomas F. Moran, Sr. & Hazel E. Caisse on February 21, 1938 in Fitchburg, Massachusetts. She attended school in Fitchburg, MA, Nashua, NH and graduated from Appleton Academy in New Ipswich, NH in 1955. Hazel married her high school sweetheart, David J. Cotzin, Sr. in 1959 and made their home in New Ipswich since then. She was a member of the Our Redeemer Lutheran Church.
Hazel served as a Girl Scout leader for SWIFT water for 10 years, participated for several years in the New Ipswich Players Theatre Groups, was a member of the Former Lionel J. Kanyan American Legion Auxiliary in New Ipswich and the Le Clair-Caron-Pelletier Auxiliary in Greenville for over 60 years. She was also a correspondent for several newspapers covering the towns of New Ipswich, Greenville and Mason for 17 years and later became a licensed real estate agent for Niemi Real Estate then Academy Real Estate with her husband David Cotzin for many years; she retained her license until the year 2017. In the meantime, she worked for Belletes Hardware for 10 years and after retiring, she worked as a Teacher’s Aide for the Mason school district.
She is survived by her children, Lynda Ilomaki and Holly Rodier, grandchildren, Crystal (Daniel) Burdick Cassy (Jeremy) Rhodes, Erik Ilomaki, Elizabeth Ilomaki, Andrew Cotzin and Christopher Rodier Great-grandchildren, Curren and Shane Burdick, Stormy, Stiles and Stone Rhodes, Thomas, Gavin, Carter, Reese and Lainey Cotzin. Brothers, Thomas Moran and Patrick Moran Sisters, Ruth Bernier and Mary Eklund.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, David J. Cotzin, Sr., her children, David J. Cotzin, Jr. and Thomas M. Cotzin, Brothers, Bill Moran and James Moran, and sisters Sara Dunn and Louise Sillanpaa.
Calling hours not set yet. Funeral will be on July 12, 2025 at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church at 11:00 a.m. in New Ipswich, NH. Burial at the Central Cemetery Main St New Ipswich. A celebration for Hazel with food and fellowship immediately after Burial at the New Ipswich Athletic Association in New Ipswich.
