Jasmine Hatcher, 93, of Umatilla, Florida, passed away peacefully on May 10, 2025. Surrounded by the love and support of her family, friends, and dedicated caretakers, she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Born on June 19, 1931, in Edmondson County, Kentucky, Jackie was the youngest child and only daughter of Nancy and Elzie Denham. As a young girl, she and her brother Bruce worked diligently on the family farm, stripping tobacco, harvesting crops, and performing other essential tasks. Later, Jackie worked as a nurse’s aide in Bowling Green, Kentucky, where she met Bob Hatcher. They married and, in 1958, moved to the Melbourne, Florida area with Jackie’s son, Ricky, from a previous marriage. The family then welcomed a daughter, Robin, before settling in Umatilla. Jackie and Bob remained married until 2023.
Jackie’s life revolved around her home and family. She and Bob enthusiastically supported Ricky’s athletic pursuits, driving him and his teammates to countless games and school activities. When Robin came along, Jackie became a fixture at every band concert and trip, and lovingly sewed nearly all of her cheerleading and dance costumes. She will be fondly remembered for her unparalleled Easter ham, Christmas cookies, and cooked squash, the recipes of which no one has ever been able to replicate. Her family also cherished her epic Christmas stockings, a tradition she upheld for her children and grandchildren every year. Jackie enjoyed working outside and cultivating numerous flower gardens around her home. She also loved clothes shopping with her daughter and briefly worked at Harper’s Boutique in downtown Eustis. Known for her generosity, Jackie never hesitated to help friends and family in need.
A devoted member of the Orange Avenue Church of Christ, Jackie cherished the many dear friendships she formed there. Her love, laughter, and generosity will be remembered forever.
Jackie is survived by her son, Rick Vincent (Janice); daughter, Robin Wadsworth (Phil); granddaughters, Dady Sullivan (Matt) and Megan Vincent; grandsons, Tyler Wadsworth (Samantha) and Christopher Wadsworth; great-granddaughters, Maggie Walker (Doug), Isabel Ivey, Sophia Burkett, and Scarlett Burkett; great-grandson, Mikel Ivey; great-great-grandchildren, Landon and Olivia Walker; nephews, Jon Denham, Jim Bridgewater, Eddie Hatcher, and Chuck Hatcher; and nieces, Lori Denham and Rhea Ann Kennedy.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Elzie and Nancy Denham; husband, Robert Hatcher; brothers, Noel, Dewell, and Bruce Denham; nephews, Larry Denham, Joey Denham, and Wes Denham; and niece, Sheila Denham along with many brother and sister in-laws, including her good friend Margie Bridgewater.
A funeral service will be held on May 16, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Orange Avenue Church of Christ, located at 1511 E Orange Ave. in Eustis.
