With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Ginger Lou Church, who died on Sunday, April 13, 2025, in Altoona, Florida.
Born on November 9, 1954, in Chapmanville, West Virginia, Ginger was the beloved daughter of the late Sibil W. Conley-Adkins and John Adkins, Jr.
Affectionately known as “Sissy” by her family, Ginger was a proud graduate of Chapmanville High School and dedicated 27 years of her life to the Social Security Administration. She was known for her compassion and tireless commitment to helping others, ensuring that those she served received the resources and support they needed. Her career was a reflection of her generous heart and deep sense of responsibility to her community.
Tiny in stature but full of fire and love, Sissy had a warm spirit, a quick wit, and a deep appreciation for life’s joys. She loved playing cards—especially poker—and spent many happy hours traveling and laughing with her longtime partner, Cloyd “Abe” Clark. She also enjoyed collecting crystal and glass, surrounding herself with beautiful things that brought her joy.
Though she had no children of her own, Sissy loved her family immensely and doted on her many nieces and nephews. She was always ready with a word of encouragement, a laugh, or a listening ear. Her love was constant and unconditional.
Sissy was preceded in death by her parents, John and Sibil Adkins, and her brothers Bob Mullins, Danny Adkins, and Raymond Adkins. She is survived by her devoted partner Abe Clark, her brother Dave Adkins, her dear Aunt Louise Paul, and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will carry her memory forward.
A memorial service to celebrate Sissy’s life will be held at the Conley Family Cemetery at a later date, to be announced.
Ginger Lou “Sissy” Church lived a life rooted in love, loyalty, and service. Though small in size, she made a lasting impact on everyone she knew. Her humor, devotion, and strength will remain in our hearts always.
