After raising her two boys in Wickliffe Kentucky, Dorothy received her degree in education from Murray State University and began a wonderful teaching career followed by becoming a realtor. Mom followed dad as his career moved north. The couple had homes in Wickliffe, KY; Beulah, Turtle Lake and Bismarck, ND; Edina, MN and Leesburg, FL where they enjoyed over 20 amazing years of retirement at the Plantation.

Dorothy‘s dedication and joy in life was her family. Other passions included basketball, golf, sewing and entertaining with a wonderful circle of friends at the Plantation.

Her faith was strong throughout her life with her final years as part of the Celebration Baptist Church of Leesburg.

Mom had special memories with her nieces, Becky, Pam, Pat, Lucy and Jenny, nephew Stacey (Tammy) and great-grandchildren, Kingston, Azalea, Dominic, and Lucy.

Special thanks to the staff at Lake Port Square and hospice for their loving care, and to Nancy Concado for her tireless assistance.

In true Dorothy Jean style she hosted an ice cream social at Lake Port several weeks ago attended by over 40 friends, family and staff. She couldn’t miss a good party and had a great day. Dorothy had a way of bringing people together, she genuinely cared for all of those around her. Her ice cream social was filled with sunshine and smiles; a fitting end to such a beautiful life. May we all carry on her legacy of love and kindness.

A Celebration of her Life be held on Tuesday, April 29th at 11 a.m. at Beyers Funeral Home 1123 West Main St in Leesburg.
