John S. LaBombard

John S. LaBombard, 81, of Leesburg, Florida, formerly of Enfield, New Hampshire, passed away peacefully on April 9, 2025, in Leesburg.

Born on August 20, 1943 in Hanover, New Hampshire, John was the son of Richard “Duke” and Helen LaBombard (Conroy). He attended Hanover High School and began working at a young age, first for his Uncle Raymond LaBombard driving a mail truck. His early career included driving a water truck during the construction of the I-89 project in the 1960s and later hauling freight for Phil Gomez Trucking and Daniels Transportation.

In Omaha, Nebraska, John married Jean Anderson, beginning a partnership that would shape the rest of his life. In 1980, he purchased his own truck and began hauling cheese out of Hinesburg, Vermont-a decision that marked a turning point in his career. Through tireless dedication and an unwavering work ethic, John earned the trust and respect of the owners of International Cheese Company. They knew they could count on him to deliver their product reliably and professionally.

In 1993, he purchased a coach bus and had it refurbished into a custom coach. He and Jean enjoyed traveling together in it, creating cherished memories on the road. The coach also became a unique part of John’s political involvement; he began transporting political candidates such as Governor’s Councilor Ray Burton, and Governor Greg Benson across New Hampshire during their campaigns. In 1996, he proudly supported President George W. Bush’s campaign efforts and spent extensive travel time alongside allies and friends.
After three decades of hauling cheese and building a fleet of trucks that reflected his commitment to excellence, John retired in 2008. He initially settled in Kerens, Texas-until the local rattlesnakes convinced him otherwise-and then moved to Dalton, New Hampshire. Eventually he found his ideal retirement setting in Leesburg, Florida, where he became part of a vibrant community and made many dear friends, especially Harry and Rita Boerger.
Family was at the heart of John’s life. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Jean, his parents and siblings Richard (Dicky), Patricia Judd, Marcia West. William (Bill), Deborah Marten and half brother Larry.

He is lovingly remembered by his daughter Lisa Capaldo (Joe), step-daughter Tammy Kuypers (Kurt), step-son Rick Anderson (Cheryl), and step-son Jerry Anderson (Cathy). John found immense joy in being a grandfather and deeply adored his grandchildren: Ryan, Josh, Jodi, William, Jonathan, Miranda, Ashleigh and two great grandchildren Mikey, Evelyn and Amelia.

John was a former member of Lebanon Elks Lodge #2009
John’s legacy is one of determination, loyalty, and connection-to his family, to his work, to his community, and to the causes he believed in. May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him.
