David Wallace Knight, 79, passed away peacefully in his home in Groveland, Florida surrounded by his family on April 2, 2025. He was born in Leesburg, Florida on July 24, 1945 to Samuel and Thelma Knight.

He graduated from Groveland High School in 1963. After graduating, he attended Lake Sumter Junior College before enlisting into the Air Force where he served for four years, with three of those spent serving in Vietnam. While in the Air Force, he was awarded The Bronze Star Medal for heroism. He retired in 1970 as a Staff Sergeant.

He was an avid gardener and baker, frequently sharing these passions and his knowledge with his family and friends. He served faithfully in his church. He cared for and loved his family deeply throughout his entire life.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Betty Ruth; daughter, Andrea (Jerry) Burkett, son, Ronald (Rebekah) Knight, and son, James (Pam) Knight. His sister Theresa Knight. His grandchildren, Cameron Burkett, Emily (Jackson) Gamin, Matthew Knight, Sarah Burkett, Jonathan Knight, Heather Harrison (Sean), Amy (Jason) Combee, and Garrett Harrison (Madison). And his great grandchildren, Jaxson, Kinsey, Folsom, and Tate.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters Sandra Knight and Carolyn Knight Denham, and his grandson James Doyle Knight.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, 11:30 a.m. at Bay Lake Missionary Baptist Church in Groveland, Florida, visitation will begin at 10:30 a.m. with interment to follow at Bay Lake Cemetery.
