
Josie Legons Rimes started her life’s journey on July 8, 1948, in Ridge Spring, South Carolina. She was born to the late Ella Harris Galbrith and Floyd Legons. Josie, affectionately called “Mae”, was the oldest of four children.
She grew up surrounded by the warmth of her loving parents and siblings. She was educated in the local schools of Ridge Spring, South Carolina. Josie met and married the love of her life, James V. Rimes, and relocated to Leesburg, Florida, as a young adult. Together, they raised their only child, Pamela Rimes Liggions.
Josie was employed in the agricultural industry at Zellwin Farms for thirty years, where she was known for her diligent work ethic. In recent years, Josie has been full of compassion and a desire to serve humanity, working as a dutiful private duty companion to elderly citizens at Lake Port Square. In her spare time, Josie immensely enjoyed fishing. She was an enthusiast of flowers and plants. She could be found in her flower garden, nurturing her beautiful masterpieces with kind words and hydration.
Josie was a caring and devoted neighbor and co-worker. Her spirit was as bright as her laughter, her heart was kind, and her presence was always comforting. She will be dearly missed by her family, friends, and all those who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Josie was preceded in death by her husband, James V. Rimes; parents, Ella Legons Galbrith and Floyd Legons; and a great-grandson, Javin Rimes. On Thursday, March 20, 2025, Ms. Josie Mae Rimes transitioned from this earthly life of service to accept her crown of righteousness.
Those left to forever cherish the love and memory of Ms. Josie Mae Rimes include: daughter, Pamela Liggions; grandchildren, Jamil Rimes, Sr., Jonise Rimes, Earl Spinks, and Amari Spinks; great-grandchildren, Jakirah Rimes, Jamil Rimes, Jr., Jamia Rimes, and Jaylin Rimes; sister, Retha Legons Hammond (Charles); brothers, Curtis Legons and Cecil Legons; special friend, Calvin “Cadillac” Smith; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other sorrowing relatives, and numerous loving friends.
