Lynn Palmer Peterson, age 68, peacefully departed this life on February 13, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born on September 27, 1956, in St. Cloud, Minnesota, Lynn was a longtime resident of Leesburg, Florida, where his gentle spirit touched the lives of many.
Proud of his Norwegian heritage, Lynn carried the quiet strength of his Viking ancestors. Growing up in Minnesota, he cultivated a deep appreciation for family and nature. The Peterson family’s shared adventures fishing and hunting at their Canadian cabin forged bonds that remained strong throughout his life.
Lynn’s intellect shone early, graduating high school at 16. Drawn to the Florida sunshine, he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from the University of Florida, embracing life with a free spirit, his dog, his guitar, and his cherished friendships. Fate intervened at his sister Gail’s wedding, where he caught the garter, and Barbara Canfield, catching the bouquet, became his beloved wife of 45 years.
A devoted husband and father, Lynn’s humor and unwavering support were the cornerstones of his family. He and Barb were blessed with two children, Lia and Zach, and a grandson, Evan Ortiz. He was a hard worker, and his professional accomplishments included co-owning Budget Rent a Car with his father and wife, and later, a successful career at Properties of The Villages, where “Peterson Place” stands as a testament to his dedication.
Lynn’s passions were as diverse as his talents. He found solace in nature, whether on his pontoon boat or his lanai. A guitarist, pianist, and warbler, he also enjoyed golf, reading, and home projects. His patient, wise, and calm nature endeared him to all who knew him. He was a loyal friend, a man of integrity, and a source of unwavering love.
In a final act of profound love, Lynn’s kidneys were successfully transplanted on February 14, 2025, National Organ Donor Day, a beautiful and selfless gift.
He leaves behind his loving wife, Barbara; his children, Lia and Zach; his grandson, Evan; his siblings, John, Julie, and Gail; and a host of cherished friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Palmer “PJ” and Charlotte Peterson.
We celebrate Lynn’s life, a testament to gentle strength, unconditional love, and unwavering loyalty. We are eternally grateful to God for the gift of his presence in our lives. May his memory be a blessing, and may his spirit find peace in the eternal sunset.
