A Leesburg woman was arrested after officers found methamphetamine in her purse during a traffic stop.

Officers observed a black pickup truck traveling eastbound on U.S. Hwy. 441 around 12:40 a.m. Friday, according to an arrest report from the Leesburg Police Department. While behind the vehicle, he turned off his headlights and saw it did not have a white tag light making the plate visible from 50ft. He subsequently stopped the vehicle in front of Addition Financial Credit Union, located at 8040 U.S. Hwy. 441.

One of the officers then identified the front seat passenger as 44-year-old Kristy Lee Eiler. As he finished a written warning for the traffic infraction, another officer observed a red straw with white residue sticking out from the radio cubby. Eiler and the driver were removed from the vehicle as a result, the report said.

While searching the vehicle, the officer found a clear plastic baggie containing a white powdery substance in Eiler’s purse. This was found in the passenger seat and came from the same purse Eiler took out her license from. The substance later tested positive for methamphetamine and weighed 3.3 grams, the report said.

Eiler was arrested on charge of possession of methamphetamine. She was transported to Lake County Jail and released after posting $2,500 bond.

The Ohio native was also arrested in March 2016 after stealing from Walmart with two children in tow.
