A Umatilla man was arrested for battery after allegedly grabbing and shoving his girlfriend while accusing her of sleeping with his brother.
A deputy responded to a domestic battery complaint at an undisclosed Umatilla residence around 4 p.m. Thursday, according to an arrest report from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office. Dispatch advised that the caller stated her son, 23-year-old William Hunter Shane Green, was attacking his girlfriend. They had started fighting over their relationship status.

Upon the deputy’s arrival, the Umatilla Police Department already had Green detained. He was trying to walk away from the residence when they got there, and they detained him for further investigation, the report said.
The deputy first spoke to Green’s mother who advised that she heard him and his girlfriend get into a verbal altercation in his bedroom. She went to check on them and saw Green holding his girlfriend by the arms and violently shaking her. He then shoved her away from him into the bedroom wall, the report said.
After Green shoved his girlfriend, he continued to scream and yell at her. His mother believed the argument was over his belief that his girlfriend had been sleeping with his brother, the report said.
The victim stated that she and Green, her boyfriend of over two years, had gotten into a verbal altercation over him accusing her of sleeping with his brother. During this argument, he aggressively grabbed her forearms and shoved her away from him. He then continued to scream and yell at her over this topic, the report said.
The victim added that Green never struck her, and she never laid a hand on him in any way. She stated she switched between staying at this residence or with her mother, but she primarily lived there with Green. While speaking with her, the deputy observed slight redness on her forearms but no further injuries, the report said.
The deputy next met with Green and read his rights. Green initially did not want to talk, but after a couple minutes, he advised that he would. He advised that he lost his temper before clarifying that him and his girlfriend had gotten into an argument during which he lost his temper. He made comments about how he needed to change and stop acting like this. He denied every laying hands on the victim in any way during the altercation, the report said.
While speaking with Green, he appeared extremely distraught. He later became extremely irate along with screaming and yelling. He also continuously banged his head against the glass window in a patrol car in anger. He refused to stop when told to by law enforcement, the report said.
Green was arrested on charge of simple battery (domestic). He was transported to Lake County Jail with bond set at $2,500.
