It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Kenneth Fred McBride (84) of Leesburg, FL, on February 26, 2025. He passed peacefully.
Kenneth, fondly known as Ken or Kenny, was born in Fort Wayne, IN, October 31, 1940, as the youngest of three. Born toward the end of the Great Depression, he was raised to be thankful for what he had, work hard to achieve his goals, and treat others the way he wanted to be treated. These are the qualities he passed down to the generations that came after him.
Growing up he enjoyed what would become a favorite past time of his adulthood-fishing. He shared many fishing trips with friends and family members over the years, and taught us all the wisdom of being patient, how talking one-on-one can be vitally important for well-being, and that worms are super slippery so they have to be put on the hook just right!
Once out of high school, he joined the Army reserves for a year before joining the Navy where he remained for the next five years. He talked fondly about the USS Brown and traveling to exotic places during that time of his life. After returning to civilian life, he met Lea Jean McBride to whom he was married for 60 years before his passing.
He touched many lives with his experience and wisdom. He never met a stranger. He would help where he could. He was very much loved.
Kenny’s loving spirit is carried on by his wife, Lea, child, Amy, grandchild Kaitlyn, and great grandchildren Emily, Silas and Violet.
