Dispatch received a complaint of 40-year-old Anthony William Carter being back at an undisclosed Leesburg residence at 5:10 p.m. Monday, according to an arrest report from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office. He had previously been arrested and was violating the no victim contact order.

A deputy met with the complainant who stated Carter was at the house earlier but was unsure if he left. He had the victim’s vehicle, a silver Volkswagen Jetta. The deputy then asked dispatch to verify if there was an active no victim contact order, and they advised that there was one put in place on Feb. 24. The order stemmed from a previous arrest, the report said.

The deputy proceeded to drive by to make contact with Carter but was unsuccessful. At about 10:30 p.m., the deputy drove by again and saw the Jetta parked in the driveway. The driver’s door was open, and there appeared to be a man in the driver’s seat wearing a red hat, the report said.

The deputy circled back around and made contact with the man, along with several other deputies. The man initially refused to get out of the vehicle but eventually complied after several minutes of speaking with him. The deputy recognized the man as Carter from previous encounters they had at the same address. He was subsequently detained, the report said.

Contact was then made with the original complainant who advised the victim from the original case had been living at the address for about one year. The deputy was able to check with the Clerk of Courts website and verify the case was still open, the report said.

Carter was arrested on charge of violating his pretrial release condition for domestic violence (no victim contact order). He was transported to Lake County Jail to be held without bond.
