A Leesburg man was arrested on drug charges after an officer found a broken pipe, pills and powder in his possession during a traffic stop.

An officer observed the driver of a white Toyota truck, later identified as 45-year-old Kenneth Rodney Mosley, traveling south on North Truett Street around 12:15 a.m. Monday, according to an arrest report from the Leesburg Police Department.
As the vehicle approached the stop sign at High Street, it did not come to a complete stop before the white stop bar at the sign. It then continued south on Truett Street. The officer got behind the vehicle, and it abruptly pulled into the driveway at 208 S. Truett St., close to his residence at 211 N. Truett St., the report said.
Mosley immediately got out of the vehicle, ran to the front and threw items into the front yard of the residence. After ordering him back into the vehicle and the other occupants to remain inside, the officer stood by for backup to arrive. Once they did, all occupants were removed from the vehicle and detained, the report said.
Mosley was subsequently found to have a suspended driver’s license. He had a suspension from April 2023 for failure to pay and two suspensions from January of this year for failure to pay. Mosley advised that he knew his license was suspended, the report said.
Mosley also explained the items the officer saw him throw were a pair of gloves and a set of keys to his motorcycle. He could not say why he threw the items, the report said.
The officer proceeded to check the area and found a pair of black leather gloves, a set of vehicle keys and a broken glass narcotics pipe, all within close proximity to each other. He next searched Mosley and found broken pieces from the pipe in his front right pant pocket. There was also a Ziplock-style bag containing 2.5 grams of MDMA pill pieces, the report said.
A K-9 was deployed to sniff the exterior of the vehicle, and it alerted to the presence of narcotics on the passenger side. A search of the vehicle yielded numerous items of narcotic paraphernalia. In the front driver’s side door, the officer found another Ziplock-style bag that had been dumped in the lower door pocket, the report said.
The bag contained a white powdery substance. More powder was spilled all in the bottom of the storage pocket. This substance tested positive for MDMA, and the officer collected about 2 grams worth as evidence, the report said.
Mosley was arrested and charged with possession of MDMA, drug paraphernalia (possess or use) and driving while license suspended/revoked with knowledge. He was transported to Lake County Jail with bond set at $4,500.
He was also arrested in Feb. 2019 for pawning a rifle he should not have owned as a felon and in Feb. 2016 for fighting in the Spanish Springs Town Square.
