A Lake County mother and son were arrested after allegedly visiting her ex’s home in a chance to retrieve her other child.

An officer responded to a verbal altercation in progress, later found to involve 40-year-old Tequila Sharice Brown of Leesburg and 19-year-old Jeremy Lamar Flint of Fruitland Park, at an undisclosed Lake County residence at 12:10 a.m. Sunday, according to an arrest report from the Fruitland Park Police Department.
Upon the officer’s arrival, a male victim in a torn white tank top appeared at the front door advising him to come inside. The officer could hear arguing coming from inside the residence as he approached. Another officer got to the scene, and they separated the parties before requesting Lake Fire Rescue for possible injuries, the report said.
One of the officers then spoke to a female victim who was seated on the couch holding a baby. She appeared disheveled and shaken up. She explained that she came to the male victim’s house because he wanted a witness at the residence for when his son’s mother, Brown, came to get their son. There was almost an altercation earlier, and he wanted a witness in case things got out of hand, the report said.
The female victim was in the residence when Brown got there. She observed Brown to show erratic behavior and intoxication. Due to this, she did not feel the juvenile was safe with Brown as she was driving a vehicle when she got there. The female victim retreated into the residence to turn the juvenile over to the male victim, the report said.
As the male victim was the juvenile’s father, he did not believe the child was safe under Brown’s care because of her current state. He advised that he would not be turning him over to her. Brown was left outside the residence with her other son, Flint, and was told to leave the property, the report said.
Brown and Flint instead went around the back of the house and found the back door unlocked. They went in without invitation, following the female victim into another room. Brown struck her several times in the head with her fist and pulled her hair. She and Flint attacked the female victim while she was trying to hold the baby away from them. The male victim then called the police, the report said.
The male victim advised that earlier in the day, he asked Brown to see the juvenile, so she dropped him off. While speaking with her over text, the male victim noticed she was acting erratic and sending him hateful messages. The officer looked at these messages, wherein Brown used vulgar language, the report said.
The male victim did not feel comfortable handing the juvenile over to Brown in her current state, as he realized she had been drinking and was under the influence. When he went back inside, Brown and Flint came through the back door that he forgot was unlocked. They proceeded to attack the male victim, after which he sustained scratches, other abrasions and a torn shirt, the report said.
Flint also shoved the male victim, to which someone fell on the TV and shattered the screen. He called 911 upon Brown and Flint entering the residence, the report said.
The officer observed the male victim to have scratches on his right and left upper biceps, some of which were still bleeding. He also had several actively bleeding lacerations to his face and chest, the report said.
The officer spoke with his colleague who stated Brown and Flint admitted to coming into the residence without invitation because they were trying to take custody of the juvenile. They both said they came through the back door because it was open. However, Brown did not acknowledge the battery portion and continued to advise she was trying to get her son, the report said.
Brown also stated she went inside because she had a key to the residence, although she did not live there and was not welcome at the time. Flint did not have visible injuries, while Brown had a few superficial scratches on her wrist, the report said.
The report noted Brown and the male victim had a child in common and were previously engaged in a romantic relationship. Additionally, the call taker noted that she heard “get out of my house” over and over again in the background, then “get off of me.” She heard a female in the background saying the same things. A female also said, “Give me my baby,” the report said.
Brown was ultimately arrested on charges of burglary with battery, simple battery (domestic) and simple battery. The Michigan native was transported to Lake County Jail and released after posting $54,000 bond.
Flint was also arrested on charges of burglary with battery and two counts of simple battery. The Michigan native was taken to jail and released after posting $54,000 bond.
