Danny Ray Sapp passed into eternal life on December 31, 2024. Danny began his life on November 10, 1953. He was the first-born son to father, Henry Sapp and mother, Vera Lentz Sapp. Linda was his older sister and brother Lee followed Danny.
He was born in Leesburg and raised in Fruitland Park. His family attended Community United Methodist Church routinely. As he grew older, he was active in the Methodist Youth Fellowship (MYF) in his teens helping host programs at the Methodist Youth Camp on Picciola Road and other church events. He was a member of FFA (Future Farmers of America) during high school. He had fond memories of his grandpa, Lee Lentz, a guiding force in his life. Afterwards he attended Lake Technical Center studying electronics. Danny raced motorcycles in his 20’s locally and outside Florida.
For much of his career, he installed carpet, tile and draperies. He was a Rotary member. His hobbies were baseball and gardening. He enjoyed fixing motorcycles and discussing racing with friends. His working career was only part of his story. His focus was on his family, wife Denice (Fox), son Jonathan and daughter Leigha. Sadly, his son Jonathan was killed in an accident in 2000 at the age of 12. His parents and sister also preceded Danny into eternal life.
Danny is survived by brother, Lee (Kim) Sapp and daughter, Leigha (Austin) Avery all from Bainbridge, Georgia and wife, Susan. Danny married Susan Norton Sapp in 2014 and created a blended family with Megan (Brian) Spittle, Michael (Cait) Chancellor and Leigha Sapp. They have 5 grandchildren. There are family God gives you at birth and at marriage. Then God gave Danny a church family at New Life Presbyterian Church where new friends were made. He kept the church mowers working so the property was maintained.
Danny liked to wear Wrangler jeans, starched white shirts, boots and spoke with a distinctive southern drawl. He was full of stories and liked to reminisce about days gone by. He will be missed. However, as a family of faith, we know we will see him again one day and he is at peace for eternity.
