An officer responded to a domestic call at an undisclosed Lake County residence around 3:50 p.m. Wednesday, according to an arrest report from the Leesburg Police Department. Dispatch advised that the victim was battered by her partner and immediately left the residence on foot once she called law enforcement.

Upon the officer’s arrival, the victim stated 22-year-old Julian Lee Carmona was arguing with her in the living room of the residence. She started recording the interaction with a phone, knowing he would get aggressive toward her. He noticed it and moved toward her to take the phone from her, the report said.

Carmona took her phone away and went into the hallway. The victim followed him to get her phone back but was unsuccessful. He started to push her back into the bathroom, putting his forearm on her neck in the process, the report said.

At one point, the victim fell on the bathroom floor, quickly got up and started to run toward the exit while screaming for someone to help and call the cops. Carmona then threw her phone at her and asked her not to call the cops. He promised her that he was going to leave if she did not call the cops. He still left when he saw her call anyway, the report said.

The officer observed redness on the victim’s chest and neck, which corroborated her statement regarding physical contact from Carmona. She also had a minor laceration on the big toe of her left foot. She requested EMS and was medically evaluated and cleared, the report said.

The victim added that she and Carmona had been dating for about six months, and she was five months pregnant with his child. Her stomach showed she was pregnant, which he was aware of. He also lived at the residence, making the incident domestic, the report said.

Carmona was found and arrested a few hours later at Publix, located at 717 N. 14th St., Leesburg. He was charged with simple battery (victim pregnant – no or minor injury) and transported to Lake County Jail. Bond was set at $5,000.
