Sofia Boziki Moumouris

Sofia Boziki Moumouris passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on December 31, 2024.

Sofia was born on April 18, 1936, in the village of Liapades, Greece. She immigrated with her family to the United States in 1971 and spent the early years of her life in the States in Danielson, CT, where she worked at the Danielson Curtain Company. In 1986, she and her family moved to Eustis, Florida, to purchase Takis Pizza, which they operated until their retirement in 2003.

Sofia’s greatest joys in life were her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchild. She loved gardening; if she visited a new garden, a clipping was sure to go home with her. She adored trees and would propagate any that caught her eye.

She could often be found sitting under her favorite tree in front of her home, greeting friends and neighbors as they walked by the lake. She never met a stranger; her smile was infectious, and her love was unmistakable.

Sofia was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, her beloved husband of 49 years, Theodosios “Teddy” Moumouris, and her beautiful granddaughter, Eleni Dyer Moumouris.

She is survived by her children, Steve Moumouris and his wife Anastasia, Jenny Honeycutt and her husband Christopher, Jon Moumouris and his wife Lauren, and Spiro Moumouris and his partner Katia Sfier; her grandchildren, Sofia Scott and her husband James, Teddy Moumouris and his wife Morgan, Alexander Honeycutt, Gabe Moumouris, Maximus Moumouris, and Maria Moumouris; and her great-granddaughter, Eslin Scott.
